Migraine

Migraine

Migraine is a relatively common disorder. Approximately 17.6% of women and 6% of men suffer migraine. According to the research conducted among the population, women who suffer migraines Caucasian origin (20.4%) is significantly higher than African American women (16.2%) and Asian (9.2%), which reliably points to a genetic predisposition to develop the disease. The incidence of migraine falls on the most productive years of life, ranging from 25 to 55 years. 90% of those suffering from migraine, carry their first attack before his fortieth birthday. Assessing the quality of life for people who suffer migraines, lower than that of patients with other chronic illnesses such as arterial hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, because these people live in constant fear of attack, which violates their fitness, ability to take care of their loved ones.
It has been proved that the prevalence of migraines is family. Genetic effects are especially pronounced in migraine with aura. If both parents had a migraine attack somewhere in their lives, the probability of that happenings to their children is 60 - 90%. If migraine attacks were evident in a mother, the risk of the disease is 72% when the father is 30%. Men who suffer migraines, have mothers who fell ill with the disease four times more often than fathers.

Several studies have demonstrated involvement in the pathogenesis of migraine genes that determine the metabolism mono amines, particularly serotonin.

It is now believed that migraines are involved in the pathogenesis of many genes as well as its clinical manifestations are important environmental factors and psychological factors.

Migraine is a chronic disorder with episodic worsening. It can be with stereotypical feelings arising directly to the sore attack: twinkle to the eyes, the outbreak of light, distorted perception of the world, limb numbness, a feeling in the stomach, etc. But often the pain episode begins suddenly, without warning or aura. Sometimes after aura headache is developing, such attacks are "grace migraine".

About Cluster Headache

About Cluster Headache

Cluster headache is a type of vascular pain, but it is rare (affecting approximately 1% of the population, 80% of whom are men). It raises a series of attacks (clusters), several times a day for the happy days, or even weeks,  and yes there is a period of months and years. OVA episode of 15 minutes before the hour, with an acute pain that some people even commit suicide because of this brand of headache.

The precise biological mechanism for this type of pain the least studied. But there is a general view that this phenomenon is vascular and that the hormonal imbalance caused by periodic resentment hypothalamus may play a key role.

The pain of cluster can be expanded sleeping artery (vessel leading from the heart to the brain through the neck and is the main source of blood marrow) and irritation of nerves located behind the eyes, caused by increased local high arteries. Most experts believe that is why a cluster headache is characterized by feelings of pain in the eyes.
First the pain strikes the ear, and then starts permeating acute pain behind the eyes. The eyes turn red and teary,  nasal cavity, a tide of blood to the face and sweating. Pain movingly described one of the patients, who said that he had the feeling as if he had stabbed in the eye and managed to get it to the brain. Others thought that their skin is falling apart from the face and sprayed with acid wounds.

The pain usually affects only one side of the face, but can switch to another in subsequent attacks, in which people ramrod sorts around the room, loudly shaft, and sometimes struggling against a wall to distract attention from its extensive headache. Periods of pain may be seasonal in nature, spring and autumn -- the most dangerous time of year. Some elderly -- including smoking and alcohol consumption -- can increase the risk of a cluster, but this type of headache is not hereditary in nature and does not depend on the educational environment.
